About the Ford 4500 RDS EON
The 4500 RDS EON is the black cassette radio that Ford fitted to many cars and vans from the late 1990s. Like the 6000 CD, it asks for a 4-digit keycode after the battery has been disconnected. What is different: its serial is shown with buttons 2 and 6 (not 1 and 6), and it almost always starts with M. If yours starts with V, type it as it is – it is recognised too.
How to enter the code on a 4500 RDS
- Switch the radio on – it shows CODE.
- Press preset 1 until the first digit is right, then 2, 3 and 4 for the other digits.
- Hold 5 until the radio accepts the code.
10 LOCKED or –– on the display means a waiting period after wrong codes: leave the radio and ignition on until CODE comes back. See radio locked after wrong codes.
