Type the whole serial as printed – the radio type is recognised automatically.

Which Ford Transit radios are covered

Ford Transit and Transit Connect vans mostly use the same Ford radios as the cars – 4500 RDS, 6000 CD and later CD units – with a serial that starts with M or V followed by 6 digits. Some recent Transit models with a SYNC touchscreen do not use this kind of code. Type the full serial in the box above – we recognise whether it is an M or a V serial and show the code. Longer labels such as FDC2005M123456 or SOCD6X7V123456 (Sony) can be typed as printed – the M or V part is picked out automatically.

How to enter the code on a Ford Transit

  1. Switch the radio on – the display shows CODE (or KEYCODE).
  2. Press preset button 1 until the first digit is right, button 2 for the second, 3 for the third and 4 for the fourth.
  3. Confirm by holding button 5 (on some radios: the OK button or a long press on 4).

For more detail see how to enter a radio code. Other Ford radios (Travelpilot, FMS, L and C series) are on the Ford radio code page.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the serial on a Ford Transit radio?

Switch the radio off, hold preset buttons 1 and 6, then switch it on – on many Ford radios the serial (M… or V…) appears on the display. Otherwise it is on the label on the radio case, next to the barcode.

Is the Ford Transit radio code the same as the keycode?

Yes. Ford calls the radio code the keycode – it was printed on a small card in the owner's pack. If you have lost the card, type the serial above and get the same 4-digit code.

My Ford Transit radio shows LOCKED or a waiting time.

After several wrong codes the radio locks for a while. Leave the radio and ignition on until it asks for the code again, then enter it once, carefully. See the locked radio guide.
