What the serial looks like

  • Pre-code on the display or labelA123

Type the whole serial as printed – the radio type is recognised automatically.

Get the pre-code from the Megane radio

  1. Switch the radio off.
  2. Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 at the same time.
  3. While still holding them, switch the radio on.
  4. After a few seconds the display shows the pre-code, e.g. A123. Type only the letter and the three digits in the box above.

Radio off, hold 1 and 6, switch on: the pre-code appears on the display (our drawing).

If the display stays on CODE or 0000, read the pre-code from the label on the radio case, where it is printed as A123-SECURITY (often called the security code) – you need two radio removal keys to slide the radio out. On a phone you can tap the camera button and point it at the display or the label.

Which Megane and Scenic radios are covered

  • Megane, Scenic and Grand Scenic with the standard Renault radio (Update List, Tuner List, CD Player) – pre-code, instant code above.
  • Older radios made by Blaupunkt or Philips – type the full serial from the label (BP… or RN…, 14 characters); it is recognised automatically.
  • Newer radios without a pre-code (for example units made by LG) – send the VIN with the request form and our team emails you the code, with the price first.
  • Carminat, Media-Nav, R-Link and other touchscreens – no pre-code; send us the details.

Enter the code

  1. Switch the radio on – the display shows CODE or 0000.
  2. Press 1 until the first digit is right, then 2, 3 and 4.
  3. Press and hold 6 until you hear a beep.

Buttons 1–4 set the four digits, then hold 6 until the radio beeps (our drawing, code 0070 for the pre-code A100).

After several wrong codes the radio makes you wait longer before the next try – see what to do when a radio is locked. More about pre-codes and other Renault radios is on the Renault radio code page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the pre-code on a Renault Megane radio?

Switch the radio off, press and hold buttons 1 and 6 together, then switch it on while still holding them. After a few seconds the display shows the pre-code, for example A123. It is also printed on the label on the radio case, next to the word SECURITY (e.g. A123-SECURITY), which is why it is often called the security code. Type only the letter and three digits.

Does this work for the Renault Scenic?

Yes. The Scenic and Grand Scenic use the same radios as the Megane, with the same pre-code.

How do I enter the code on a Renault Megane radio?

Press button 1 until the first digit is right, then buttons 2, 3 and 4 for the other digits. Press and hold button 6 until the radio beeps and starts playing.

My Megane radio shows no pre-code.

Some newer radios, for example units made by LG, and touchscreens such as Carminat, Media-Nav or R-Link have no pre-code. Send us the car's VIN with the request form and our team replies by email.
